The sweet smell of success

Project

Emissions from livestock productions have a significant negative impact on the immediate environment. Read more about how our experts in microbiological processes and environmental technology work with air cleaning technologies.

Challenge

The demand to reduce ammonia and odour emissions is increasing. Consequently, a complete system solution that can deliver air cleaning, climate control and ventilation is a significant competition advantage for technology suppliers. SKIOLD A/S produces and distributes feeding equipment and ventilation and climate control systems. They have contacted AgroTech because they want to be able to add air cleaning to their product range.

Tasks

AgroTech and SKIOLD A/S work together to solve the problem. The starting point is a prototype of a biofilter that cleans ventilation air from livestock buildings, and the purpose of the project is to convert the prototype into a saleable product by optimising efficiency and reliability and bringing down manufacturing costs. AgroTech provides biofilter technology, knowledge and consultancy, whereas SKIOLD A/S provides technology for the production of the filter.

Development perspectives

AgroTech’s expertise in the fields of microbiological processes and measurement of emissions ensures that the filter design is optimised to provide effective ammonia and odour filtration. With a very short time to market, SKIOLD A/S has developed a reliable and extremely effective product at a low production cost.
