Biogas

The Danish government has set the ambitious goal that 50% of the country’s agricultural manure is to be utilised in biogas production by 2020. Today, the figure is 5%. To meet this goal, it will be necessary to develop technologies that can secure efficient and profitable biogas production.

Advice on the production of agricultural biogas

AgroTech provides advice on the development of technologies for agriculture-based biogas production. Examples of the technological areas involved include:

  • Plant biomass for biogas production
  • Slurry separation equipment
  • Pre-treatment of biomass to increase the methane yield
  • Estimation of gas potential
  • Technologies for post-treatment of degassed slurry
  • Air purification in biogas plants
  • Technologies for the purification and utilisation of biogas
  • Nutrient handling and utilisation of degassed slurry.
  • Demonstrating and testing biogas technologies

We also demonstrate and test biogas technologies in order to document their efficiency and operational reliability.

In connection with the planning of new biogas plants or optimisation of existing plants, AgroTech can assist in the analysis of the biomass basis and financial calculations, including sensitivity analysis. In this area, we co-operate closely with the specialised Biogas and Slurry Separation advice service of DLBR (the Danish Agricultural Advisory Service), and with the local agricultural centres.

AgroTech offers scientific analysis, environmental impact assessment and economic analysis within the area of biogas.

AgroTech can also assist in the formulation of development and demonstration projects and grant applications for the installation of biogas plants.
